Specialities:

  • English Philology

Both full-time and extra-mural studies last six semesters.

The graduates will obtain a Bachelor's degree in English. The graduate will possess the basic skills and knowledge of the language, literature and culture of the target language's nation indispensable  in their future jobs. The graduates will have the functional knowledge of English as well as translation skills. The process of teaching includes the issues connected with solving professional problems, collecting and transferring information and working in a team. Solid philological education and practical language skills can be used by the graduate in the professional environment as a translator, according to the requirements of the labour market (general translations, literary translations, and also specialised ones e.g.  social-political, legal-economic).

The graduates of Philology will be able to work as a translator:

  • in government and local administration,
  • in enterprises on the international markets,
  • in customs services, as a border guard,
  • in non-governmental organisations,
  • in tourism industry,
  • as an editor or sub-editor in a publishing house and cultural institutions,
  • in service industry,
  • as an assistant of the language service of institutions

The graduate of this speciality can study for a Master's degree at universities and obtain additional qualifications necessary to teach English in schools.

  • German Philology
