For nearly twelve years The Bronisław Markiewicz State School of Higher Vocational Education in Jarosław (PWSZ Jarosław) has been part of the picturesque San River valley. It was founded on 1 August, 1998 in accordance with the act issued on 26 June, 1997 on Schools of Higher Vocational Education.
One of the main objectives of university education is to give an educational start to young people from small and medium-sized villages of south-eastern Poland, to overcome the barriers to educational access and provide the local labour market with professional workers ready for employment in the economic, tourism, medical and construction sector.
The first Inauguration of the academic year took place on 18 October, 1998. At that time 782 students began their studies in the following field: Economics and Food Economy Organization.
Currently, our school educates approximately 5 000 students. Our educational offer is correlated with the needs of the region and the secondary education profile in Jarosław and the region. The development of our school is based on a close academic cooperation with universities of Kraków, Lublin and Rzeszów. The graduates of Jarosław higher school take up MA / MSc studies at AGH University of Science and Technology, Cracow University of Technology, Lublin University of Technology, Cracow University of Economics, the University of Rzeszów. Our school has signed cooperation agreements with 10 universities in Poland, and with 3 universities in Ukraine and Slovakia.
The main task of our school is to prepare professional workers for their career during the 3 - year Bachelor studies and the 3.5 - year Engineering studies. PWSZ in Jarosław makes every effort to implement the educational mission: above all, it tries to meet the students' aspirations and therefore it wants to expand its educational offer, and does its best to create new fields of study in the specialities compatible with the needs of the region, as well as to create MA studies.
We have created modern sports facilities, in which the University Sports Association operates. Our students are champions in many sports disciplines.
Our students are represented by the Student Government which carries out a range of activities in the fields of social welfare, sport, charity and culture. It cooperates with other student governments in Poland and abroad; it also takes an active part in the sessions of the Student Parliament of Poland.
The scientific activity of our school is supported by perfectly developed didactic facilities which cover the area of 11 hectares. Modern classrooms, well-equipped laboratories, IT facilities are the chief assets of our school's educational offer.
The main purpose of the Promotion and Career Section is to create a positive image of our school, the steady growth of its attractiveness and competitiveness in the educational market. This section achieves its objectives in accordance with the idea behind our school, i.e. ‘student-friendly school' through creating the positive image both inside and outside the school. Another element is moulding the opinion about PWSZ in Jarosław as a reliable, honest school providing the graduates with a solid practical and theoretical basis to take up their first job, encouraging talented, ambitious and creative students - specialists in their fields.
The Promotion and Career Section carries out the tasks connected not only with promoting our school, but also in the field of recruitment. Realization of those tasks manifests itself in: preparing and distribution of information materials for candidates, designing the content, graphics and language of promotional materials, participation in educational fairs, organizing workshops and events for young people from secondary schools under the heading ‘The School for you - reach for more'.
The Promotion and Career Section is also responsible for editing and distribution of our student newspaper ‘Echo Uczelni' and preparing broadcasts for the student radio i.e. ‘Twoje Radio Jarosław' (1062 AM ).
‘Twoje Radio Jarosław' broadcasts information programmes in the morning and afternoon on medium wave frequency.
Our modern student club ‘Sesja Pub' offers a warm meal from 9.30 until the evening hours.
All the goals and objectives we have set up are, in our opinion, necessary for the proper functioning in the education market and fulfilling the functions each educational institution is assigned. We would like to assure you that we will do our best to realize these priorities to achieve the primary objective, which is the development of The Bronisław Markiewicz State School of Higher Vocational Education in Jarosław.
